Auto Immune Epidemic Book Review

If you suffer with a debilitating auto immune disease you are not alone, in fact it may come as a surprise to you how often they actually occur. Auto immune disease could be considered a pandemic or plague with 1 in 12 people currently affected of which 80% are women.

The book is written by Donna Nakagawa and provides practical advice for those suffering from auto immune malfunctions. Knowledge is power when it comes to dealing with any disease or affliction that the medical profession knows little about. Until recently doctors had no answers for most people suffering with auto immune problems and could offer little help and no solutions.

It wasn’t until a few doctors were affected with little help from conventional medicine that progress toward a treatment plan was made. If you or someone you know suffers from Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, myasthenia gravis, celiac disease or other immune diseases this book will teach you how to protect your immune system and guide you toward healing your body’s defense system.

It also points out the other diseases that are linked with auto immune components like autism, arteriosclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and Lyme disease as well as how to protect your family by guarding your immune system and advises how to maintain its optimum function. The book identifies chemical triggers that may be in your own home or neighborhood that everyone should be aware of to prevent or provide the best protection form this type of illness.

The author, Donna Nakagawa, sites scientific studies and provides information about dietary supplements and the importance of a clean diet to maintain your health and well-being in the chemically polluted environment in which we all live.

Currently there is little information provided to doctors about the particulars of auto immune diseases and studies are ongoing as I write this article. While some parts of this book are steeped in medical terminology and can be hard to follow it is definitely worth the read.

Because I suffer with an auto immune disorder myself I purchased this book with my own funds. I found this book to be a valuable asset in auto immune disease management and provide hope for an eventual cure. I also found that unless you can find a doctor who has experienced auto immune malfunction personally or knows someone who has first-hand experience it is difficult to find help from conventional medicine. As experienced by many with auto immune problems alternative and nutritional methods seem to offer the best results in treatment and prevention.
