Talent or The Next Best Thing

America's Got Talent (NBC Tuesday)

If you have watched Jay Leno (The Tonight Show NBC), you know that he frequently pokes fun at the lack of stellar NBC programming and the network’s relatively low ratings. Unfortunately, this show is a prime example of why that is. Their plan it seems, is to throw money at the problem and this show offers a prize of one million dollars, but it does not seem to be attracting talent or viewers.

One reason for this could be the people employed there, the ones who approve and air a show like "America's Got Talent,” despite the fact that Simon Cowell is the executive producer. What this clearly demonstrates, is that neither the contestants, nor the NBC execs have any talent.

The three judges are Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and David Hasselhoff; and after that awful video of the Hoff drunkenly eating a hamburger, he just does not add anything positive to the show.

Jerry Springer wanders through too. He is billed as the “host” but his presence is pointless and that is enough to let you know about the caliber of this show and which market NBC is pandering to.

This show is a revamped Gong Show and just like its aforementioned predecessor, it has no talent. The sax player and the dog act were the best I saw on that show. You, however, can bail them out and apply for the show!

They should get a clue from ABC's The Next Best Thing.

The Next Best Thing: Celebrity Impressions (ABC Wednesday)

I have to admit that I was less than enthusiastic and dreading yet another "talent competition" program, but...I was surprised and pleasantly so!

These people are good and they are competing for a mere $100,000! This is a hard competition as well because to be a great impersonator, one needs to possess three things: the Look, the Voice, and the Performance. On these three things they are judged by Lisa Ann Walter, Elon Gold, and Jeffrey Ross, who are also quite funny.

We saw several contestants who were amazingly good in one or two of those categories, but the judges did not pass them through precisely because they were lacking one of the other qualities. I propose that they send those folks over to NBC (America's Got Talent). It would greatly improve their show by adding some real talent.

I was just blown away by the Howard Stern guy. He truly had it all and that alone will keep me watching, to see how far he gets.

The performances are wonderful and they will have you in stitches! This is a very entertaining show!
