Summer Outdoor Garden Deals

Late June and early July in the United States are ideal times to find deals on gardening and outdoor living supplies. Stores will discount many of these types of items to make room for newer merchandise. Plus, you can find used items on craigslist or at garage sales as people try to sell items they no longer need or surplus they bought.

Bags of mulch. Stores sell mulch at big discounts once the main planting season winds down. The stores want to clear out mulch, soil, and stone since they don't have room to store it. One strategy you can implement is to purchase discounted bags of soil and mulch at the end of season for next year. The bags keep well if you have storage for them. The product remains good. Then, next year, you can start gardening right away and wait for the end of season deals for the following year, continuously saving money.

Outdoor furniture. End of season outdoor furniture sales offer a lot of savings. Again, stores don't want to store this stuff. You can even offer to take the display model, for less money of course. Another great way to save on lawn chairs, tables, and love seats is to check craigslist. Many people tire of their outdoor furniture. You can negotiate and often reduce the price that the seller wants.

Grills. You may have to wait to get the best deal on a grill until September. But stores do hold first of season sales that can be beneficial to your wallet. Check out craigslist as well. Often people get new grills with more features and sell the old ones here.

Bedding plants/hanging baskets. Bedding plants and hanging baskets get discounted at the end of the growing season. The same applies to vegetable plants and seeds. Some big box stores don't discount their plants so check around for ones that do. Many garden centers or nurseries will offer discounts too.

Pots and planters. You will find deals on garden pots and planters as stores clear out inventory. You can buy extra for next year and store them if you know you will be using them. Many planters are expensive so waiting for end of season sales can really reduce cost. The same applies to birdbaths and garden ornaments. Garage sales and craigslist are two places to check for deals. Many people are happy to just get these items out of their way so they sell them at a fraction of the cost.

There are lots of options to save on gardening and outdoor living items. Having patience and waiting to the end of the season can pay off big in dollars saved. The same applies to buying extra at the end of season and storing the items for next year. Just remember to buy what you need and will use.
