My name is Cate, and my goal is to take a subject that lots of people find “dry and boring” and make it “fun and interesting”!
So what qualifies me to talk about Home Finance? Well, “technically”, I have a degree in Management with a concentration in Accounting. I worked in the finance field for over 10 years, with jobs ranging from auditor for the Navy and Marine Corps (now THAT was interesting) to manager of finance for a local HMO.
But what gives me real passion about my topic is personal experience. Early in my marriage 13 years ago I developed a budgeting and tracking system that allowed us to pay down tens of thousands of dollars in debt, begin saving and investing, and buy a home. I created my own methods for preventing “cheating” and maximizing wealth with the resources we already had available. I’ve also been through personal financial crisis, the biggest being my husband’s job loss in 2002. He was unemployed for 18 months. Boy, the lessons we learned…
I’ve taught courses on home finance at our local church and ghostwritten many articles (and even a book) on the subject.
For the last 8 years I’ve worked from home by developing my own businesses. I’ve done medical transcription, AdWords arbitration and am currently a virtual assistant. I work for Leo Quinn, a personal friend since childhood who´s developed--ironically--a great program on how to get out of debt quickly and effectively. It´s called "How To Own Your Paycheck Again".
But what I love best is writing and creating website content.
I’ve co-written a free e-course for WAHMs (work at home moms) at SiteSell.com. You can download the course at http://wahm-masters.sitesell.com.
In 2007 I wrote my own book called “Real People Don’t Diet” with companion website www.RealPeopleDontDiet.com. It’s the true story of how my husband and I have lost over 60 pounds combined, and dropped several dress/waist sizes.
I’m currently developing two other sites:
www.budget-and-prosper.com
www.momsmakemoneyonline.com
What about personal stuff? Well, most importantly, I have three great kids (a boy and two girls) ages 7 to 10. We homeschool and are involved at our church. We also do competitive dance for the girls and Little League for our son, and do LOTS of socializing with our large families and great friends. It’s a busy but happy life!
I hope you find what you’re looking for here in this topic, but if you don’t, feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you need.
