With a little planning you can organize a simple cleaning system at home. There is really no need to buy fancy expensive cleaners when you are more than likely to have the ingredients for them at home. No longer will you dread cleaning or put it off until the next day. Follow these easy tips and you will be off cleaning simply, easily, and cheaply while maintaining a sparkly home.
1. Make your own natural cleaners.
With ingredients such as baking soda, vinegar, water, Bronner’s soap, borax, and essential oils you can have very effective anti-bacterial and anti-viral cleaners. Have your friends over for a small party to make cleaners. Make it a fun night with cheese and wine and end the night with making your own natural cleaner. Everyone can bring an ingredient and cleaning bottles. Go online for some easy recipes and you will leave the party with some useful cleaners.
Also, if you have children that are willing to clean, you will feel safe knowing that they are non toxic.
2. Keep a cleaning caddy in each area of your home.
Keeping a cleaning caddy in each bathroom and kitchen area ensures that each area will stay clean. Stock your caddy with a bottle of cleaner, sponges, scrubbers, and cloths. That way you are more likely to clean as needed. You won’t be discouraged by having to run and get your cleaners from another area of your home.
If you have rugs in your home, I was once told by a dear friend to have a vacuum on hand for each level of your home. Again, that way you are more apt to vacuum as needed and you won’t be discouraged by having to haul the vacuum up and down stairs.
3. Organize your cleaning schedule.
Decide what works for you. Do you prefer to do a little laundry daily or do you prefer to do it less often? Do you like to do it once or twice per week? Do you like to spot clean your bathrooms daily or do you like to do a deep clean once per week? Recognizing your cleaning style goes a long way in keeping a clean home. If you choose a method that does not work for you, you will not be inspired to clean.
Organize a schedule for cleaning that fits your style so you won’t be overwhelmed. Mark it in your day planner and stick to it. Remember to be flexible if something doesn’t work. Remember the following areas: Laundry, Bathrooms (shower, sink, floors), Kitchen (sink, appliances, floors), Living Areas (floors, dusting), Bedrooms, (linens, floors, dusting) and windows.
4. Try to make cleaning an enjoyable time.
Put on some music, light some candles (remember to blow them out when you are done) or watch your favorite TV program while you clean. Better yet, call up a good friend and chat while you clean. If you aren’t enjoying yourself the work becomes drudgery and you will be most likely to put it off the next time cleaning is scheduled. Think of positive clean energy filling your home with love and light.
Cleaning the energy and space of your home can also be done ceremoniously with sage and clearing bells. End your cleaning session with one of the above tactics. Think of clearing out the old energy and bringing in the new positive energy. Cleaning your home is a special way to honor yourself, those you love, and the space you live in.
Cleaning does not have to be put on the back burner and dreaded. With these simple and easy steps you can clean without much effort. In the long run you will be creating a peaceful and loving space for your family to live in and your friends to visit.
