Everyone loves a good love story or stories on finding love. These are my top picks for Valentine's Day.
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
This is one of few books that have made me cry. The book talks about Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelsonís relationship beginning from when they first meet at the local fair in New Bern to their lives when they get older. We follow their ups and downs through their relationship and what they go through while they are together and apart. Every woman dreams of having a man love them as fiercely as Noah loves Allie.
Bridget Jones' Diary by Helen Fielding
Not a lot of people really liked this book like I did. I so identified with Bridget and her self-esteem issues! In case you have never heard about this book, this story is about Bridget Jones, a slightly chubby girl who has so many misadventures in dating and life in general, you can't help but love her character. It is pretty much the British version of Sex in the City.
Unleashing Mr. Darcy by Teri Wilson
A modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. For true Jane Austen fans, dog fans, or anyone looking for an entertaining quick read.
The Midwives by Chris Bohjalian
This Oprah Book Club pick tells about a midwife on trial for manslaughter after a home delivery goes wrong. Told from the viewpoint of the midwife's daughter, this mystery deals with love, family, birth and death as the family works through the consequences of one tragic night.
Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik
Angry Housewives Eating Bons Bons by Lorna Landvik is the story of five women in a book club in Minnesota from 1968 to 1998. These "angry housewives" do much more than eat bon bons. They support each other through good and bad, finding a lifeline in their friendships.
