7 Steps to Domestic Infant Adoption - Book Review

Adopting a baby is an overwhelming, time-consuming process. Many hopeful parents are surprised by just how much is involved and how many questions they have. Without someone to guide them, they may feel confused or lost by the process. That’s where 7 Steps to Domestic Infant Adoption comes in.

I purchased a copy of this e-book because I was curious. When my husband and I adopted, such a book didn’t exist. We found ourselves beginning the adoption process with no idea of what to expect. At times, we were overwhelmed, discouraged or confused. Luckily, we had an amazing adoption agency that answered our questions and helped guide us. However, having an additional resource – something we could have referenced at each stage of the process – would have been a God-send. As I read this handy e-book, it was clear right away just how helpful the guide will be to hopeful adoptive parents.

Tim Elder is an adoptive dad of two and founder of InfantAdoptionGuide.com, an online resource dedicated to helping those seeking to adopt a baby in the U.S. During the adoption process of his own kids, Tim obviously learned a lot and enthusiastically shares a wealth of information with others in his e-book. It’s apparent that he is passionate about adoption and wants to help in any way he can.

7 Steps to Domestic Infant Adoption: Your Guide to Adopting a Baby – and Becoming the Family You've Dreamed About takes readers through each stage of the adoption process. Tim's conversational style and wealth of knowledge about adoption simplifies the process and will help put every hopeful waiting parent's mind at ease. The book is packed full of tips, useful articles, web sites, organizations and recommended reading. Readers will find everything they need all in one place, including information on selecting and interviewing adoption professionals, completing a home study, preparing a profile, writing a Dear Birth Parent letter, meeting with birth parents, understanding open adoption and finalizing an adoption. Throughout the book, there were links to additional reading on various topics. I was amazed at how many resources he provides and have never before seen such a comprehensive guide to domestic infant adoption. Those considering or beginning their adoption journeys will have a fantastic resource to help them every step of the way.

As an adoptive mother, I only wish this book was available when my husband and I adopted our daughter. It certainly would have made the process easier and less stressful. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in pursuing domestic infant adoption.
