Derek and Karen Nannen's Golf School for Married Couples

A married couple Derek and Karen Nannen who are PGA instructors in Scottsdale, Arizona have pooled their knowledge and created a couples golf instruction school. This school is at the Platinum Golf Academy at Eagle Mountain in Fountain Hills, Arizona. This is a rare situation to have a Husband and Wife instructors teaching Husband and Wife players in combined sessions.

Couples who have participated in this type of specialty school for couples only say it is a way to do something together. We have heard so much about being a golfing widow but since more women are taking up golf you hear the reverse statement as golf widower. Taking up the game together gives each other the support they need to take lessons together.

Derek and Karen have 20 years of experience teachers of golf to various age golfers. Derek has made the statement that many husbands who try to teach their wife to play golf and giving much advice just will not work out. I can understand this problem my husband Bill at one time thought he needed to help me with my swing. This did not go over very well with me during the time we were playing in a tournament but we worked out a compromise. I have seen some tempers raised, silent treatments and destruction of club and golf courses by angry couples in Husband and Wives Two Ball Tournaments in Iowa.

Karen mention in an article that many husbands like to give advice and are telling them an array of different things to do, which is very confusing. At Derek and Karenís academy sessions as for their first introductions to their lessons they work out an agreement with no confrontations between couples. If they feel they need to debate it has to be on their own time.

On the first day they say that most women will gravitate to Karen while the men to Derek, but it does not take long when this is abandoned. Golfers will learn a lot from any gender when taking golf lesson. They try to make it a comfortable atmosphere so learning the game became easier and they help them fine tune the game they already have.

Both Derek and Karen love to see how the students enjoy the game when they are able to hit good shots. The husbands are more pleased when they see their wife becoming excited about how much they are improving. The instructors both have their own style and delivered to their students in different ways. It is satisfying to see their students improve and enjoy taking lessons together.

This instructional program begins with golf lessons in the morning, followed by lunch and then a round of golf with the instructors. This first day ends with a private dinner at the club. The students feel when the instructors are playing a round of golf with them is beneficial. When their teachers are right there on the course with them it is so much better than just spending time on the driving range. They will get answers and instruction when unfamiliar things happens, like in a sand trap, in water, unusual lie in the rough, or on a sprinkler head plus many things that come up while playing a full eighteen holes. The lessons you learn at this situation will stay with you much longer than just being told or reading about it in a book.

Each student receives a video of their lessons with analysis of their swing and their game. The individual help is so much more helpful and will stay with the student much longer. If any couple is interested in learning more about Derek and Karenís Couple instructional golf program can call Platinum Golf Academy and talk to Derek at 480-282-4627 or at 866-682-4626

The Couples School includes two days of instruction with golf as well as a private dinner at the grille at Eagle Mountain. Derek and Karen Nannen will instruct you with great help improving your golf game through detailed swing fundamentals and on-course instruction. The school is limited to five couples with a cost of the 2-day school at $545.00 per person. Accommodations are available at the Inn at Eagle Mountain for $720.00 or in the Holiday Inn, Fountain Hills for $645.00 plus tax and based on double occupancy.

This sounds so unique that many couples should give this a try to work together to improve their golf game while on a vacation to sunny Arizona. I discovered this unusual golf school while researching a book I am writing. I believe Golf is a game for Life and it suits all ages. I feel with this combined golf school for married couples given by a couple of married PGA golfing instructor should be given more publicity. I have always said if couples play golf together they will stay together.
