Arizona Living History Museum

Pioneer Arizona Living History Museum is located 30 miles
north of Downtown Phoenix. The desert area is filled with saguaros,
mountains and native plant-life. An Arizona Historic Landmark known
to the locals as the Pioneer Village History Museum lies in this area.
Tourists and locals residents of Arizona have fond memories of their
experience of this historical educational site.

Most of the children educated in Arizona after 1970 have visited
the Living History Villge on field trips. Educators have found
the village to be of exceptional value in historical education subjects.

The Pioneer Village Living History Museum is considered by many as a
classroom without walls. It has interactive tours that
provide a realistic experience for everyone to learn
about Arizona’s early settlement living in the 1800’s.

The museum opened on February 15, 1969, with Phase 1
of the Living History Village. The Pioneer Living History Village you visit
today is still in Phase 1. The village consists of 30 historic buildings
from the 1880s to the turn of the century. All of these structures were moved
from their original locations when urban sprawl threatened to destroy them.

The Pioneer Village has operated as a non-profit that has been visited by nearly 1 million people from all over the world.
