International Museum of Women

The International Museum for women is an amazing museum created to bring the art, heritage and unity of women around the world to the forefront. I have enjoyed the online exhibits for many years now watching this organization grow and inspire women around the world. It is with great pleasure that I introduce this rich resource to you and your families. The images are moving, bright and colorful. The messages are thought provoking, interactive and touching. Featuring every culture through out the world focused on women and our lives.

The History (An Excerpt from the Home WebPage)

"The Museum was founded as the Women's Heritage Museum in 1985. For over 10 years, the Women's Heritage Museum operated as a museum without walls, producing several exhibits, hosting public programs, sponsoring an annual bookfair, providing teacher resources for Women's History Month, honoring unknown women from our local history, and recreating historic events.

In 1997, in response to growing support, the Museum’s Board began plans for a single destination museum in San Francisco and changed the name to the International Museum of Women. From 1997 – 2004, the Museum organized seven major exhibits, created a speaker series drawing world-class speakers, offered special events and public forums, and educational curricula to the local student and teacher community.

In 2005, the Museum embarked on a global strategy to reach women around the world leveraging advanced technology, collaborative strategic partnerships, and a physical presence in San Francisco and in key regions around the world. This unique model will allow the International Museum of Women to reach millions of people around the world through an online and physical presence. In 2006, the Museum launched Imagining Ourselves, A Global Generation of Women, the Museum’s first interactive, multi-lingual online exhibit designed to reach a global audience."
