Amelia Bedelia Books

The Amelia Bedelia books are for juvenile children in the second grade and higher. At this level, they can read the books on their own. The books are like their school readers. There are simple sentences with lots of pictures. The pictures give visual clues to Peggy Parish’s text.

Amelia Bedelia is a maid for the Rogers’ family. She is kind-hearted and loves life. But she has one problem, she takes everything literally. This leads to some amusing situations. When she is told to scale and ice freshly caught fish, she weighs the fish on a scale. Amelia Bedelia ices the fish with cake icing. Children love her screwball adventures.

As the children are laughing at Amelia Bedelia, they are reading. And since the books are so much fun, they eagerly read the other books in the series. Read the titles in the Amelia Bedelia series. Boys as well as girls enjoy the series. Amelia Bedelia’s cousin, Alcolu, is a character in the books.
