Rajah is an Indian Ring Neck Parakeet. The normal colour for these birds in the wild is green, but this beautiful blue colour is becoming common in pet birds. They now come in a large variety of beautiful colours.

The Ring Neck Parakeets are sexually dimorphic when mature. This means that you can tell the males from the females. The main distinguishing mark is the ring around the neck. You can see the ring around Rajah's neck, which means that he is a mature male. The ring begins to show when the bird is between 2 and 3 years of age. Both males and females make excellent pets and can learn to talk.

These birds are very active and with their very long tail, they need a large cage and plenty of out of cage time to be happy.

This book from amazon.com or amazon.ca has plenty of information about more parakeets that you probably knew existed.
