It’s that time of year again, Independence Day! The United States of America each year celebrates July 4th with our patriotic clothes, flags and cook out preparations. All this is done to celebrate our countries heritage. Join me as I share some of my favorite 4th of July prompts that have inspired me to include my countries heritage in my journal.

Here are some prompts to help you journal about Independence Day:

Day One: How has Independence Day affected your life?

Day Two: How do you celebrate this day? Is it a family tradition handed down from generations to generations?

Day Three: What are some fond memories you have of the 4th of July as a child? How have these memories impacted your journaling experience?

Day Four: What are some not so fond memories of the 4th of July as a child? How have these memories impacted your journaling experience?

Day Five: Journal about the firework display whether private or public? Didn’t make it to a firework celebration this year, don your pretend caps and review past years that you participated in.

Day Six: What are some of the thoughts that come to your mind when you think about Independence Day?

Day Seven: Journal about some of the United State’s history that has touched your life? How has this molded and shaped you in your journaling?

Day Eight: Have you ever researched the historical background of the USA? If so what have you discovered that inspired you and strengthened your patriotic pride?

Ok, let's be creative and make these response turn into journaling pages, not just journaling sentences. Another thought to consider is have you ever pondered doing a heritage journal for your country? Calling it a My American History Journal? Or a travel journal with a state theme? Remembering some of your memories from previous Independence Day celebrations is a great way to keep a record for generations to come. Journal all the important events surrounding the background of your country. Who were the important people that helped carve out the historical background of your great country? How have these special people helped impact your life? Other people’s lives? When was your country founded and by who? Does your country have a patriotic celebration commemorating the country you live in? What are the traditions of your country in regards to celebrating the above referenced day?
