Now that the elections are over we are about to see new battles begin, one party against another. Our Democratic President, Obama, against Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner. We have one attempting to lead, another unwilling to follow.
During his speech the day after the Republicans swept the House, President Obama expressed his desire to hold bi-partisan meetings. While the words that came out of his mouth spoke of “working together,” we know…and he knows…that is not likely. These bi-partisan meetings are set to begin November 18th but let’s face it; no one is going to get anywhere.
Then there is the healthcare bill. The Republicans will do all they can to slice that thing apart. President Obama will still stand behind it. That will be a long downhill battle.
Then we have Nancy Pelosi, good ‘ole stubborn Nancy Pelosi. She apparently can’t take a hint. She is not wanted. She is done yet she is digging her heels in the dirt while Republicans and Democrats attempt to drag her out.
Fox News apparently obtained a letter this week that the Democrats had written to Nancy Pelosi, asking her to step aside. If they ever want to rebound, I think they recognize that they need her out of the way.
Prior to the elections the country was at odds with one another, over the job President Obama has done. Disagreements, arguments and banter have gone back and forth. That got tiring. While some may be rejoicing at the outcome of the November 2010 elections, it only means that we have greater battles before us. That will also quickly become tiring.
I have come to accept that politics can be just that…tiring. Politicians really have their own agenda. There are very few that are truly looking out for the good of the people. So they try to push and force their agendas through. They hope that some of us will follow. But while they do that and squabble with one another, we Americans sit back and shake our heads. Will this ever end?
It has only just begun. The real battles are just on the horizon. It will be interesting to see how this changes, if it even does, President Obama’s tactics. With opposing parties not willing to bend it is going to be one long, ugly battle. Get ready to see the weapons come out.
