Dalai Lama & His Words of Peace

The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, Tenzin Gyatso was born July 6th, 1935. As a Buddhist spiritual leader, religious philosopher, Dalai Lama has brought much peace to humanity through his compassionate teaching.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet in 1989. As an author of more than 72 books, Dalai Lama has received over 84 awards, prizes, and honorary doctorates. The latest honor he has received includes the Nirmala Deshpande Memorial Award for Peace and Global Harmony by Gandhi Ashram Reconstruction Trust in India. Dalai Lama has travelled to more than 62 countries in spreading his message of peace, compassion, non-violence, and inter-religious understanding.

Here are some magnificent quotes by this spiritual leader and religious philosopher. I hope his words below serve to enrich your life and your personal spiritual journey.

“I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace.” ~ Dalai Lama

“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” ~ Dalai Lama

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” ~ Dalai Lama

“Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.” ~ Dalai Lama

“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.” ~ Dalai Lama

“We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.” ~ Dalai Lama

“All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is love, compassion and forgiveness the important thing is they should be part of our daily lives.” ~ Dalai Lama

“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.” ~ Dalai Lama

“As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery… we have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace. The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness.” ~ Dalai Lama

Walk In Peace ~
