The independent party comes in many forms. One of the more well-known groups is the “National Independent Party.” The history of this particular party started back in May, 1998. It is based on fifteen principles; with the first being “I believe that no people can maintain freedom unless their political institutions are founded upon faith in God and belief in the existence of moral law.”

Moral law? Do we even know what moral law is anymore? In a country where now anything goes? I wonder if we could ever get back to that place where morals dictate the path we take.

Their purpose is really to bring our country back to what it was founded on, the traditions of our Founding Fathers and the importance of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I don’t know if you see this happening but there is a strong undercurrent that is trying to steer us away from yesterday and plow forward to this new future that is very uncertain.

They also believe in supporting the men and women who serve and protect our country. Whether or not you agree with how the government handles things like terrorism and war, there is a firm belief that our armed forces must be appreciated for their sacrifice. Some of the latest news stories that depict protestors interrupting funeral services for our service men and women are deplorable. You can believe what you want but to intrude on a funeral is as low as you can go.

They believe in prayer and preserving the religious faith our country was founded on, along with honoring all religions that we the people practice. What would our Founding Fathers think if they knew that now the National Day of Prayer was under attack?

The National Independent Party also stands on principles not politics. I think more and more the people of the United States are getting so tired of politics as usual. The NIP believes that government has its role and its proper place, which is to secure the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the United States. Rights and freedoms are not something we as people give to one another. They believe they are gifts from God. Whether or not you believe in a higher power, know this…that when we start letting people determine our rights, we are in a scary position.
