Tori Spelling has one of the most notable names in Hollywood. It isn't simply because she is the daughter of tv phenomenon Aaron Spelling, creator of shows such as Charlie's Angels, Love Boat, Beverly Hills 90201 and Melrose Place. Tori was a star in her own right starring as Donna Martin on Beverly Hills 90210 and a long list of made for tv movies. Most recently, she and husband Dean McDermott became reality stars on Oxygen starring in Tori and Dean: Inn Love and Home Sweet Hollywood.
With fame and parents who live in a 40,000 square foot home comes a lot of media attention and a tabloid target. Tori wrote "sTori Telling" to set the record straight by dispelling rumors and giving you a look into what her life has really been like.
The book is a lot like reading a well written blog and is a very easy lighthearted book to read. Her tone is very casual and makes you feel as if you are one of her best girlfriends. She dives into her childhood which is so very different from most of ours yet there are a lot of times when I can identify with her. Although she grew up with all the material items she could want, she struggled with being Aaron Spelling daughter and wished for some "normalcy" in life.
She discusses her career and how her name gave her a start but that her hard work paid her way. I assumed that because her parents were so wealthy that they paid her way through life. However, her book details how much of that is not true. It impressed me to know that she paid her own rent and even lived in a simple apartment complex just like us regular folks.
Tori and her relationship with her mother has been constant fodder for the tabloids especially after the passing of her father. The entire book takes you through their very rocky relationship which is filled with so many ups and downs. Can you imagine being evicted by your own mother after you tell her you are getting a divorce and in love with another man? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Tori Spelling.
If you like Tori and Dean or are a fan of Tori Spelling from the 90210 days, you will really enjoy reading this book. There was so much about her life that I didn't know about. It was actually a lot of fun to read and I look forward to reading her next book.
