Product Hangtags Template in Photoshop Elements 7

If you are happy with the results from the previous tutorial, you are ready to put several hangtags on an 8.5 x 11 inch template. Open your hangtag design file into Adobe^R Photoshop^R Elements 7.

Click File, New, Blank New to start a new image with a Width of 8.5, Height of 11 inches and Resolution of 300 ppi.
Go back to your hangtag and click Select, All from the Menubar. Then, click Edit, Copy Merged to copy all layers from the hangtag image. This will automatically flatten all the layers into one layer.
Go back to the template and click Edit, Paste. There it is in the center of the template. We will need to rotate the hangtag and move it up to the top left of the template.
Let's turn on the rulers and grid to help us. From the Menubar, click View, Rulers and then click View, Grid.
Now we can rotate the hangtag. From the Menubar, click Image, Rotate, Layer 90 Right.
With the Move tool, drag the hangtag up to the top left and place it one half inch in from the top and left edge of the template.
Go to the Layers panel and click on the layer with the hangtag. Choose Duplicate Layer from the menu to make a copy of the active layer. Now we have two hangtags – each one on its own layer. With the Move tool, move the second hangtag to the right until it is one half inch from the top and right edge.
We can merge these two hangtags layers into one layer. Right click on the top layer in the Layers panel and choose Merge Down from the menu. Now that we have both of the hangtags on one layer, we can duplicate this merged layer. Right click and choose Duplicate Layer.

Click and drag the two new hangtags on this duplicate layer until they are one half inch below the first hangtags.
Merge the two hangtag layers together as before. We now have one layer with 4 hangtags. Duplicate this new merged layer and drag the 4 new hangtags into place one half inch below the others.

You should have 8 hangtags in your template. Save your template in the default .psd file format.

Print your hangtags on your home printer on 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock, trim out, punch a hole and tie to your product.
