Senior Centers Spell F-U-N

I grabbed the entrance door to the Senior Center and said to the man who was visibly marked from a stroke, "Have a nice day." I expected nothing. Instead he stopped, looked directly into my eyes and replied, " I always say, if I can get out of bed in the morning, leave my house and make it to the center, I know it's going to be a great day."

Everyday the lives of men and women, family members and the community at large are positively affected by this local gem known as the Senior Center. The colorful lobby is filled with oversized, inviting chairs and is brimming with activity each morning at 9:00 AM. Sit for awhile and you can enjoy the large flat screen TV which provides information on center activities and classes.

Looking for the best bargain in town? Maybe you need a last minute gift or get well card? Look no further than the Gift Shop! Whether window shopping or browsing, it's hard not to be tempted by the many treasures that await the eager shopper. This all volunteer run boutique is able to senior center programs with more than $1,000 each month. So I ask you, how can you resist everything but temptation?

Do you need a quiet place to read or perhaps there's a crossword puzzle you have been anxious to tackle? The library, located in the Senior Center offers space to stretch out and get lost in a room full of words!

With fall here, perhaps the kids have just moved away or find themselves busy with their growing families and you now realize there is time to learn or try something new. Well you might be very surprised to find that the Senior Center is more than a place for a hot lunch and Bingo. What a great place to explore your creative side like scrapbooking, digital photo editing or even painting. Football and fall season shows are fine for a while but the Senior Center is a place to leave that couch behind a try Aerobics, Tai Chi or Yoga!

Yes, at the Senior Center it's another great day and great way to spend some time this fall. From food to friendship, expanding your mind or exploring the many its many valuable resources there is so much that is offered here.
