The big day is approaching, you are wondering if you really made all the right decisions. Is the dress right? Everyone said it was beautiful, where they just saying that? Did I choose the right flowers? What about the bridesmaid dresses? Yes and again yes, all these questions you are asking yourself are perfectly normal. You are not loosing it. Really.
I have a few things that I use with brides to calm them down. You really don’t need to turn into Bridezilla. Visualization is a great tool, and one that can be taught. The other is carrying a notebook and camera.
We will start with the notebook. This is for jotting down ideas you see when you are, watching TV, running around town, going to work, at work, at the nightclub, bar …. You get the idea. Wherever you might happen to be that you see something inspiring. This will help you jog your memory as well. Sometimes when you go back through the book you can match what you have seen to a picture from somewhere. It drives the idea home even more.
The next part is carrying a camera; well these days it’s a cell phone. Nonetheless, use it to your advantage. Take pictures of things, flowers, fabrics, makeup, and décor. That way, again it can be inspiring when it comes to making decisions. Send the pictures to your laptop, print them off then glue them in your notebook.
Okay lets put it all together, visualization. You start asking a question. Lets say did I choose the right colors for the reception? I hope they go well together? If you have jotted down your notes, matched them with your pictures, as well as taken pictures. You can simply pull out your book and look. You will have reassurance; you have something to visualize your ideas. This also helps the people who are helping with the event, they ask a question you can simply point them to your pictures, notes and thoughts.
Organization is a big key to staying out of the kingdom of Bridezilla. Visualization is next. With these two things you can side step a lot of disasters, because in your head you have already played out the event. You have walked down the isle, said your vows, had your first married kiss, danced your first married dance, cut your cake. You know how you want it to look, notes pictures an visualization are the glue that hold together your feelings and the event.
This is Sandra Sable visualizing you, looking beautiful on your wedding day… Can you see it? Signing off till next time when we will talk weddings.
