Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne

Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne is an anime series based on the fantasy shojo manga written and illustrated by Arina Tanemura.

The main character of the series is a 16-year-old high school gymnast named Maron Kusakabe. It turns out Maron is the reincarnation of Jeanne D'Arc, and she is visited by a semi-angel named Finn Fish. Finn explains about this reincarnation, and that Maron is the only one who can hunt the demons hiding in works of art that are trying to stop God from gathering his power to prevent His death. It is through Finn's help that Maron is able to transform into Jeanne.

When Maron becomes Jeanne, she is able to seal the demon in the artwork. Unfortunately, when she seals the demon, it appears to other people that the artwork has been stolen. With this misconception, Jeanne has become known as a "kaito" (a "phantom-thief").

Maron's best friend is Miyako Todaiji, and they have been friends since childhood. Miyako's father is a police detective and he is in charge of the Jeanne case. Miyako aspires to be a detective like her father, and often accompanies him when they are trying to apprehend Jeanne. Miyako is a stubborn girl with a fierce temper.

Chiaki Nagoya is a high school student who moves into the apartment building that Maron and Miyako live in, and he transfers into their class. It turns out that he knows Maron's secret, and he has come to get close to Maron to try and stop her from collecting the demons. Maron dislikes Chiaki and thinks that he is a womanizer. Miyako, meanwhile, develops a crush on Chiaki.

Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne has character designs that evoke the Sailor Moon look, with some basic plot elements that seem to have come from DN Angel. While Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne isn't necessarily a bad series, it does feel a bit like it's on the regurgitated side. There's not very much to make this show stand out from other "magical girl" or fantasy anime series.

When it comes to content, there's an occasional "fan service" shot. Outside of that, though, there's nothing too terribly offensive in the visuals. Personally, I would recommend Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne to anime viewers who are 14 or 15 years of age and older.
