Candida Overgrowth – A Hidden Epidemic

Candida overgrowth is said to be affecting about 80% of the population. However, most people do not know much about Candida overgrowth or the danger of this condition. Before we can discuss the danger and the symptoms of Candida overgrowth, we must first understand what Candida is.

Candida, also known as Candida albicans, is a fungus. It is the most common form of fungal yeast organism that naturally exists among our skin and digestive flora. Under normal conditions, Candida albicans do not cause harm as they co-exist with other bacterial flora to keep our body in a healthy balance.

However, when this internal balance is unfavorably altered by the chronic stress, unhealthy diets, medications and other environmental factors that we commonly experience in modern living, Candida overgrowth can easily occur. This is because when other friendly bacterial flora decreases in number, Candida yeast has an environmental advantage to excessively multiply. As a result, this once normal yeast organism to our body will start to cause many undesirable symptoms and ailments such as the common male or female yeast infection, oral thrush and skin yeast infection. The medical term for it is Candidiasis.

Yet, what most people don’t know is that there are many more symptoms that can also be caused by Candida overgrowth. If you have chronically suffered from one or more symptoms listed below and medical tests fail to show you why, you might be suffering from Candida overgrowth.

Recurring female yeast infection
Headaches & migraines
Athlete’s foot
Environment & Food Allergies
Chronic congestions
IBS
Leaky gut syndrome
Auto-immune disease
Skin rash
Chronic fatigue
Irritability
PMS or menstrual pain
Acne and Eczema
Oral thrush
Mental fog

The danger is that many of these Candida symptoms truly mimic other conditions and are very hard to be diagnosed with today’s western medicine approach. These symptoms will not get better on their own if the root cause is in fact Candida overgrowth. If untreated, people will experience more and more disabling symptoms as the body’s defense deteriorates and weakens. Candida yeast takes over the host and does not stop multiplying on its own if the compromised internal body environment remains unchanged. Intense sugar cravings even when full can be a sign that perhaps your food is feeding the yeast instead of nourishing your cells. Therefore, a good Candida treatment or Candida cleanse is required to regain one’s health.

I am passionate about educating people on Candida and yeast infection because of my personal painful experience with chronic Candida overgrowth. It is truly a hidden epidemic that requires more recognition. If you are frustrated with feeling unwell, and is repeatedly told that there nothing is wrong with you, I strongly encourage you to look into a good Candida cleanse. As I would always say, when in doubt, try a thorough Candida cleanse. Change your habits especially in diet. Find out as much as you can. You have nothing to lose but ill health.

I personally used Yeast Infection No More, a book by Linda Allen to regain my health. However, this is simply a recommendation based upon my own experience. Feel free to check my Yeast Infection No More review.

Best & healthy wishes!
