Dog Days of August

I wanted to plan something different for our last mini tournament for our Ladies Golf Day and came up with Grab Bag Bonanza where it will be a grab bag from score cards, prizes and sack lunches. The grab bag of score cards will have a different game planned for each player who signed up. There are nine different holes they will count for their score then take half of their handicap to find a total for each person.

The games are a variety of things we play as to which holes such as counting all holes that start with “T” and “F” or first four holes on first nine and last five holes on last nine, etc. All games will be different so they don’t know what they are playing until they draw their score card out of a grab bag. Each bag will have some tees and ball markers along with their score card plainly taped on the front of their card their special game. Cards will also be marked as their game plus for the hole that is closest to the pin.

After play and they deducted half of their handicap they were asked to announce their score and when we found the lowest score this person was the first to pick a sack from the grab bag prize group. There was enough grab bag sack for every person so it was the luck of the draw as to whether you found the bags that contained some money. Other gifts were a variety of items from golf shirt, manicure set, ear rings, refrigerator magnets, puzzle so you take a chance of the draw that you may get lucky.

The lunch was also sacks made up by my partner Janet and me so they also took the luck of the draw on what items were in their sack. We made them interesting and nutritious but a variety including a cold drink, sandwiches, vegetables and fruits, pudding cups and cookies. I also threw in spicy pecans so it was a fun time and they all enjoyed the strange Dog Days of August with a Grab Bag Bonanza. Our closest to the pin winner were this close to Hole-in-ones. It was an excited time for both of them but birdies are good too.
