The Nine of Pentacles
The Nine of Pentacles (coins or disks) is a card of support, financial security or a period of ease after a period of hard work and struggle. Nines speak of the culmination of personal vision and effort and the results that develop. Upright, this card would suggest the development of a strong network and being in a position of growth. In relationships with others it speaks of people who work to support each others dreams and goals. This card actually speaks of individual success, while highlighting the important supportive role others take in helping an individual reach his/her destiny.
This card tends to come up when money, growth, or other forms of sustenance or support from others are on the increase. It also speaks of opportunities for self-promotion or to grow further in your endeavors due to the approval and assistance of those around you. This card can also be viewed as a challenge to aim higher or push yourself a little further. Perhaps there are some things on the horizon you had not considered previously. Perhaps you worry too much what others think and hold yourself back at times.
In traditional decks, this card depicts the woman guiding a falcon. The woman represents the nurturing and support required to allow the bird to take flight. The bird represents the ability to reach higher and to clearly see ones objectives from a higher vantage point. Falcons and other birds of prey have very keen vision and very adept flight abilities. They can drop and change direction with a simple snap of the wing. In life, to reach our fullest potential, we often have to prepare to change our "flight patterns" as well in order to achieve more of our potential.
If this card comes up reversed, consider surrounding yourself with more supportive or like-minded individuals who will help you keep your sights on your goals. Also, look for ways to further your vision as this card reversed can indicate that you may be too influenced by the critical words of others or naysayers, or that you aren't reaching high enough to achieive your fullest potential.
