I am pleased to announce the merger of the Bellaonline.com art appreciation site with the art history site. I have been the art appreciation editor for six years and I have enjoyed the experience.
I have written for Internet magazines for nine years with publications in: "U Can Change the World" Magazine (India), Las Vegas Trade Show Guide and ETH (Zurich). Links to these articles mentioned are listed below.
My educational background is: liberal arts, business, humanities and arts.
A warm welcome to the art history newsletter subscribers.
To those who have been loyal art appreciation readers and newsletter subscribers, I will continue to bring to you the wide diversity of subjects which comprise the vastness of the art field.
I think you will find that these two art categories (art history and art appreciation) have some distinct similarities in regards to the subject matter discussed. They can, however, be written with two different voices: one directed at academia, the other to the public at large.
To an art historian, specific dates on the art timeline hold a major significance, whereas a lay person may simply ask in which country the artist resided.
For those who study art in academia, those who are scholars in the field of art and other related disciplines, I hope to bring another aspect of the art world to your attention Ė that of art appreciation.
I find the quote "art for artís sake" to be simple, yet profound. It means that art need not have any other purpose then to simply exist as art, nothing more. As seen through the innocence of a child, art can be appreciated for its esthetics, not only for its history and origin.
I hope you will visit my archived articles to read from the many articles I have written over the years. Be sure to take a look at the Editor's Picks. You might be surprised by my personal choices.
You may contact me through the site with a question, suggestion or remark.
You can also visit the art appreciation forum (it is active and will soon be merging with the art history forum) and read about some very interesting artists and art related subjects.
You can even begin a topic of your own related to the field of art.
Let us together enjoy and share the wonderful world of art that influences and enriches our lives every day.
