True Beauty Season 1 Finale

The ultimate beauty contest came down to the battle of the three remaining finalists on the season finale of True Beauty. Contestants believe that they are being judged on their physical beauty and are unaware that their inner beauty is being scrutinized as well. Challenges were set up all along the way to see who would prove themselves to earn the title of True Beauty, winning the grand prize of being featured in People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People.

True Beauty kicked off its first season with ten aesthetically pleasing people. One by one, seven of the contestants have been eliminated and each was equally shocked to discover the show's twist and defended their inner beauty.

Three contestants remain to compete for the title of True Beauty; Joel, the aggressive stud from Florida, Billy, the vitamin store owner from Idaho, and Julia, the pageant queen from Texas. Their final challenge was comprised of two parts. The first was an interview followed by a very seductive photo shoot. According to the judges, they could not make a final decision on who won this competition and all three contestants were headed to the Hall of Beauty for the crowing of the winner.

Before the winner is announced, the three contestants are shown the way to the judges spy room where the show's twist is revealed. Joel, Billy and Julia are forced to see their ugliest moments over the past weeks. Of the three contestants, Joel had the most un-beautiful moments.

Ultimately, judges Vanessa Manillo, Cheryl Tiegs and Nole Marin had to choose one of them as the winner based on a combination of inner and outer beauty from everything they have seen over the eight week competition. In the Hall of Beauty, all three contestants made their final plea for the crowning of America's True Beauty. The winner of $100,000 and a feature in People Magazine's issue of 50 Most Beautiful People was Julia, with Joel coming in second and Billy trailing in third.

Julia was the only person to past all eight inner beauty challenges which included honesty, charity, compassion, consideration, teamwork, decency, loyalty and modesty. In the past, Julia gave up her crown as Miss Teen Texas due to a ticket for public intoxication she received. Winning this competition gives the beauty queen a new lease on life and opens a world of opportunity for her.

We all know what makes a person beautiful isn't always what is on the outside and the show really capitalized on that. True Beauty was an entertaining and interesting take on the traditional beauty competition. If you missed it, check out ABC's website for full episodes because it is worth watching.
