If you have ever read any type of vampire based novel, drop your expectations at the cover about vampire novels especially the romance type. Twilight is a story of 17 year old Bella Swan. She leaves her mother and her life in Arizona to live with her father, Charlie, in a dreary town near Seattle, Washington. She is a typical teen girl who feels like she fits in with no one and she tends to keep to herself because of this. When she starts school in her new town, everyone takes an interest in her since she is the new girl. Throughout the first half of the book, she fights off the attention she gets from all of the boys. She says boys just donít interest her. Until Edward Cullen starts to pay attention to her.
When she spots Edward and his siblings, she is instantly intrigued by them. Since the story is told form the point of view of Bella, it is easy to understand why she is so taken by Edward but it is hard to tell why Edward says and does what he does. The grow close quickly despite Edward saying over and over they canít be together, she canít fall for him, etc. etc.
The back story of this novel is very well written. It flows smoothly in between the present story. Despite this book being written in a simple fashion, it is effective and draws the reader directly in from the start. You are always eager to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. The thickness of the book may be intimidating to most especially people who donít like to read. This one is definitely worth the read. It wonít take much time at all to read it.
