NeverWinter Nights Almost Ready!
Just what is Neverwinter Nights, that everyone is drooling over the release of? It's a role playing/strategy engine, much like Baldur's Gate 2 or Diablo. It is, according to their literature,

Neverwinter Nights has been designed specifically for the online, multiplayer environment and the latest in 3D technology and also allows you to experience all the magic of pen-and-paper Dungeon-Mastering on your home computer! Using Neverwinter Nights' powerful and user-friendly Neverwinter Toolset, you can create and populate entire new modular worlds and stories for others to adventure in. As an all-powerful Dungeon Master (DM), Neverwinter Nights even allows you to alter the plot, possess characters, and manage combat from behind the scenes, all in real-time. "
What more could any true RPer hope for? You're not held down by any plot - YOU create the plot!! Instead of trudging through some town that a designer invented, and that town being the only world you can explore, the DM of your group (or anywhere in the world) creates an entire universe populated with creatures, traps, quests, storylines, and people of his or her own devising. Then the party comes along, just as in a regular D&D or other role-playing adventure, to explore it. The universe doesn't end. It goes on forever, just as in regular roleplaying.
This is fantastic!! It is the dream come true for most groups of role players, especially ones that move apart after time and cannot get together to play. Instead, you play virtually, the DM designing the environment, and the players moving through it. The computer takes care of a lot of the tedious movement and combat statistics, freeing the DM and players to be inventive and eloquent.
