Moss

Stacy Link

Lying on the cool green
moist cushion of moss

by the stream, I am on my back
arms raised and bent at my ears
palms up to amplify her words
she speaks just for me lips parted
gazing deeply and widely
into the blue canopy
comforted by billowy
all colors white clouds

as they sail by
unguarded, helpless and in love
I am a newborn in her arms.
