Being Instructions On How To Make An Origami Heart

Stephanie Arwen Lynch

I have an origami heart.
Paper thin.
Creased.
Folded.
Shaped by other hands.

I have an origami heart.
Delicate arch,
Thrown back wings.
Someone else´s instructions
On how to love my life.

I have an origami heart.
Easily crushed
And disregarded,
Put on a shelf
Never to be touched again.

I have an origami heart.
I am creating new folds.
Determining my own creases.
Writing my own directions.
On how to love my life
I own my origami heart.
