Pictures in Andalucia

Sandra Staas

Odors of garlic
and cologne waft through open windows.

I step onto the small terrace,
adorned by geraniums red as blood.

Blind man sells lottery tickets,
old men in berets sit in a row.

Sweat drips from my
chest forming paintings on petals.
