Pina Colada Anyone?

A tropical breeze, sandy beaches and ocean views come to mind when you hear the term Pina Colada. It also brings to mind the thought of sitting on the veranda or on the eighth floor of your beachfront condo enjoying the cool, creamy slush of this virgin or not so virgin drink.

But what does all of this have to do with the sweet smell of a beautiful perfume or fragrance? Everything! You can always enjoy this feeling by having a beautiful blend on your dresser or your bathroom vanity.

You can also create a perfume scent of your own. For instance, the base of a perfume blend for a bath salt would be:

2 tablespoons of coconut oil
2 tablespoons of jojoba oil
10 drops of coconut fragrance oil
10 drops of pineapple fragrance oil
5 drops of vanilla fragrance oil

What you will end up with is about an ounce and a quarter of oil. You will take this oil blend and add 1 tablespoon of your oil blend to 1 cup of Epsom salt or Dead Sea salts.

Store your bath salts in a container that has a tight lid and use them as needed. You can add one to two tablespoons of bath salts to your water and enjoy the sweet smell of your pina colada blend.

As for the remainder of your oil blend, you can save it and make another batch of bath salts or you can use it as a perfume to dab behind your ears.

Now let us take a look at a few of the ingredients that went into your oil blend for your bath salt.

Coconut oil - This is what is known as a base oil. The interesting thing about coconut oil is that you can cook with it and use it on your skin as well as your hair.

Jojoba Oil - This is actually a liquid wax that is produced from the seed of the jojoba plant. Jojoba oils resemble the oil of your skin known as sebum. It keeps your skin and hair from drying out.

Dead Sea Salt - These salts are said to contain magnesium, calcium, potassium and sodium.

Magnesium is important in combating stress and fluid retention as well as slowing the aging process of your skin and calming the nervous system.

Calcium is effective in preventing water retention, increasing circulation and strengthening bones and nails.

Potassium energizes your body and helps to balance out the moisture in your skin.

Sodium is important for balancing the lymphatic fluid and this is important for your immune system.

Think about it ...

Your bath has just become more than a bath. You have just created an environment filled with water that will soften your skin, keep it from drying out, improve your circulation and help in balancing out your lymphatic fluid.

And all of this under the sweet smell of pineapples and coconut with a hint of vanilla.
