Final Fantasy IX Walkthrough:
Starting as Vivi

When you get through the quick intro with Zidane, you take over hat-boy in the middle of a busy street. Someone knocks you down, and a small girl retrieves your ticket for you. Right by here is her grandma's house - there's a fang card upstairs, a potion in the northeast, and grandma's 9 gil in the southeast. Her tapestry on the wall makes you dizzy.

Back on the street, there's a potion to the left. There's another potion across from the barrel guy. Now head back south to the statue area. Walk around the outside of the right hand side to grab two cards. There's another one on the lower left corner of the screen. Now head back north.

You'll watch the nobles walk. To the north is an inn. Go in. There's a potion to the lower right, a Flan card to the lower left, and 27 gil by the door to the west. By the pigeon guy (or the pigeons, if he's not there) is a goblin card.

On the next block is a shop to the north - there's 28 gil on the floor to the south area.

The next area has the ticket booth. Ask about everything except the ticket, and then finally ask about the ticket. It's fake. He'll give you a Goblin card, Fang card, and Skeleton card as a consolation prize. He'll also tell you about Alleyway Jack who is great at card games.

Stop by the girls and do some jump-roping. It's all a matter of timing. You get 10 gil for 20 times, but keep going. At 50 times you get a Cactaur card, and at 100 you get a Genji! Talk to Hippo to the north, who laughs about his 3 hidden cards.

To the northwest is an Inn - they won't talk to you, and they have no vacancies. To the northeast is a shop with a sign for the Knights of Pluto. To the east is a Synthesist.

Head west into the alley. Puck, the rat-kid, will find you here. Next to this wall is a sign which keeps track of your best jumprope jumps. Ignore him for now and continue south. If you go in the temple to the west, pull the rope at the top of the ladder to get the 3 hidden cards. There are items around the inside edges of the temple.

Further south is a boy, Tom, to the left who's lost his cat Mittens. It's in the very first area of the map. When you find it Tom will appear and be quite happy. Find him to the south again for a card.

Now return to Puck and agree to be his slave. He'll ask you to watch out for him. Do so, and say it's all clear. Then stay and talk to Alleyway Jack, who shows up, and play with him a bit in the bar. He doesn't give you great instructions on how to play, but read my Card Instructions for how it works.

Now go back and get Puck, who is a bit further south in the temple. You'll meet Kupo, your first moogle. Moogles are great for saving, and like to have messages delivered to each other. Stiltzkin shows up and says farewell to Kupo. Stiltzkin says to say hi to Mosh in the castle. Now climb up and follow Puck across the roofs and get to the show. Now you become Zidane again.
