Caribou

A.J. Huffman

Arched antlers emerge,
dirty white against dirty white,
perfect complement to wintered
horizon. Fur coat contrasts,
flickers against snow coat, briefly,
before disappearing once again.
Its silent legacy: tiny tracks
rapidly filling with today’s falling
powder.
