Frosting

A.J. Huffman

Water moves slower,
whispers like an old movie,
distorts reflection into blue
and white static, bands
across its face. The leaves overhead remain
green, dissent brown, shiver like silver bells
molded into clouds. Soon they will break,
fall,
a million wishes to return
on spring’s first breath.
