McDonalds on Low Carb / Atkins

You're out on the road and starving, but the only food in sight is at a McDonalds. What can you eat, and still stay low carb or Atkins friendly?

First off, there is always the side salad. We've had this at several McDonalds and always find it light and fresh, with grape tomatoes and carrots. It's only 2g of carbs (3g minus 1g in fiber).

One of our favorites is to order the double cheeseburger and then simply toss the bread out for the cute little birds that hang around the restaurants. You get maybe 1g for the cheese and pickles, which I love.

My boyfriend loves the grilled chicken salad, and ate these pretty much daily on a long trip cross country. They give a great selection of vegetables and meat with few carbs.

To drink, the iced tea is great tasting and 0 carb!

You can look up any item at the McDonalds Nutrition Website and see exactly what carbs are in each item.

McDonalds still fries in partially hydrogenated oils, so avoid eating anything fried here, including of course french fries!
