Five Ways to Reduce Dust Allergy During Summer

Summer arrives and we open our windows to let in the sunshine and fresh air. Oh, but there is danger in that air. A fresh crop of pollen waiting to strike and cause an allergy attack. And did you know that dust particles collect around the house over time. These tiny little dust particles are invisible to the eye but they certainly contribute to allergy problems. Here are five ways to reduce dust allergies in the home and reduce allergy attacks.

Run the Air Conditioner

The air conditioner is key to helping reduce allergens in the air during the summer time. The air conditioner has a filter that collects dust particles in the air. So, it is a good idea to keep the air conditioner humming on those hot summer days. And don't forget to keep the air conditioner filter clean because those dust particles collect quickly and reduce the air conditioners effect and efficiency on removing those dust particles out of the air.

Clean House

A clean house is an allergy free house. Buy a HEPA filter vacuum. There are several good HEPA vacuums on the market. These vacuums are well worth the extra money, especially for those with allergy problems. Clean the house at least twice a week. More if you have the time. Let a none allergy sufferer clean.

Close the Windows

Close the windows. A dust buildup in the house is one problem. You certainly don't want those outside pollutants from trees’ and plants getting indoors and adding to Allergy problems.

Go Bare

Remove all the rugs and carpets off the floor if possible. Bare floors are less likely to conceal dust mites and other particles that contribute to allergy problems inside the home.

Keep Bedding Covered

Dust mites and dust particles usually build up in the bed mattress, pillows, sheets. Keep them covered in plastic. This makes it hard for the dust mites and dust particles to penetrate into the fabric and collect. Remember to wipe the plastic coverings on a regular basis.
