I was sort of unsure at first when I saw these on the shelf at a local CVS. I don't normally eat meringues and was more drawn to the kit-kat clones and reeses peanut butter cup options.
I was impressed by the description, though. Jorge Guevara was a famous dessert chef who developed type II diabetes as an adult. He redirected his great skill and energy into creating desserts that he and others in his condition could enjoy.
The fluffy treats come in a variety of flavors - vanilla, chocolate, cappuccino and lemon. Being a chocolate lover, I tried the chocolate variety.
What a melt-in-your-mouth treat! They are light and delicate, with a lovely chocolate flavor. No heaviness at all. They have no calories, no fat, no carbs, no nothing. So no matter what diet you're on, they're a nice treat to keep in the fridge. Sometimes you want something sweet as a snack, and this is just right.
I definitely recommend keeping these as a snack to handle a sweet-tooth craving. I advise not getting used to "daily dessert" though. Keep desserts as a special treat, not as an expected meal ender.
