Paper Frame Project

Do you have an event coming up that you need a quick and easy favor for? Or maybe a project for a group? Paper frames will fit the bill! You can add a photo, a message (Student of the Month) or a menu to each frame. Change the colors and motifs to fir your occasion, or the supplies you have on hand. Here are 2 different quick and easy frames and instructions for both.

To make the frames you will need
4”x 6” paper frame
Ink pads in color of your choice
Punches of your choice
Adhesive
Post it notes
Pens/markers

Special supplies for the butterfly frame include a light green and a dark green ink pad, the Butterfly punch from McGill, purple flocked paper, lavender cardstock, 4 mini stick on rhinestones, a lavender Soufflé pen from Sakura, and a purple Gelly Roll Glaze pen, also from Sakura.
1. Place a post it note on the acetate in the center of the frame to protect it while you work. Reposition it as needed. Use the direct to paper technique to apply light green ink to the frame. Apply the darker green ink to the edges of the frame.
2. Use the lavender soufflé pen to make swirls over the frame. Do them lightly at first, then go over them again slowly and make some of the lines heavier. This should be loose and free, not perfect. Use the purple Glaze pen to make polka dots among the swirls. Set the frame aside to dry.
3. Insert the purple flocked paper right side up in the punch. Punch one time. Remove the paper. Insert the paper with the flocked side down and punch again. This will give you mirror image wings. Punch 2 times with lavender cardstock.
4. Match up the wings for 2 large and 1 small butterfly. Save the rest for another project. Use the Soufflé pen to color in teardrop shapes on the wings of 1 large butterfly.
5. Glue 4 rhinestones on the other large butterfly. Glue this butterfly to the top left corner of the frame. Add a lavender body.
6. Glue the small butterfly on the left side of the frame as shown. Use a purple body.
7. Add the remaining butterfly to the lower right corner of the frame. Add the remaining lavender body.
8. Insert photo or message into frame.
Special supplies for the bluebird frame include the Bird punch from McGill, blue handmade paper, a small scrap of parchment paper, green, black and orange Gelly Roll Glaze pens from Sakura, small scissors, one yellow and one brown inkpad.
1. Place a post it note on the acetate in the center of the frame to protect it while you work. Reposition it as needed. Use the direct to paper technique to apply yellow ink to the frame. Apply the brown ink to the edges of the frame.
2. Use the green pen to draw several branches on the left side and bottom of the frame. Add leaves as shown.
3. Punch once from blue handmade paper and once with parchment paper.
4. Use the black pen to make an eye in each bird, and the orange pen to color the beaks and feet.
5. Glue the wing to the small bird as shown. Glue this bird to the lower right corner of the frame.
6. Carefully cut the wings along each indentation to make feathers on the other 2 birds. Gently curl the feathers back, and then bend the wings forward close to the body. Glue these 2 birds to the upper left corner of the frame.
7. Insert photo, menu or message inside frame.
