Always keep a box or two of frozen green beans in your freezer! They make a super quick and easy low carb meal or accompaniment to your meat or fish of the day.
1 box / bag frozen green beans
1 Tbsp olive oil
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp basil
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
Cook the green beans as listed on the box - usually this involves boiling water, adding the frozen beans, bringing the water back up to boiling, and simmering, covered for 12 minutes. If you get the new steamer bag instead, you can pop it into the microwave for a few minutes and be set with it.
Either way, drain the beans.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet. Mix in the green beans, olive oil, minced garlic, basil, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Saute for 5 minutes until thoroughly blended. Enjoy!

There are a variety of ways to liven this up. Add in pine nuts or mushrooms. Try different flavorings. The more you experiment, the more you can enjoy a variety of flavors while staying healthy.

Green beans, snap beans, and string beans are all the same things. They are just called different things by different people. They have about 2.5g of carbs per 100g of food, so fairly low amounts. They also provide 2.7g of fiber for you. They provide good amounts of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, and manganese.
Green beans can grow in bush form or up along a pole. Try setting up a container or two on your back porch with green beans, and see how well they grow for you! They could be a fun project which adds tasty, fresh vegetables into your menu.
