Picture Tube
Step 4. Paint with the Picture Tube. You will use the Filigree picture tube that you downloaded and placed in your Paint Shop Pro 8\Picture Tubes folder. Click on the Picture Tube icon and set the following values in the Tool Options Palette.

Scale: 100
Step: 200
Placement mode: Random
Selection mode: Random

Deform Tool
We will paint the filigree on a new transparent layer. Click Layers > New Raster Layer and use the default settings in the New Raster Layer dialog box. Now you are ready to paint. Click on the card once to paint the first filigree. Now click on the Deform tool and use the center handle (small square) to move the filigree to the upper left corner of the card. Use the rotation handle to rotate the filigree into position (see Figure 3). You are ready to make a copy of the filigree. Click Edit > Copy.

Now add another filigree to the card. Click Edit > Paste > Paste As New Selection. Click on the card and the second filigree will be floating on top of the card. Click and drag the filigree to the upper right corner of the card. You want this filigree to be a mirror image of the first filigree so click Image > Mirror and position this filigree into the corner of the card. Click Selections > Select None.

Repeat this for two more filigrees. For the filigree in the lower right corner of the card you will first need to mirror and then flip the filigree. Click Image > Mirror and then Image > Flip. Position the filigree in the corner of the card. For the filigree in the lower left corner you only need to flip the filigree. Click Image > Flip and position.

Step 5. Add the Cutout effect to the filigrees. You are now ready to start creating the engraved effect. Click Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout and set the following values in the Cutout dialog box. In the example I used the two colors listed below but you can use any colors you want. Choose colors which are different in value to allow the engraved effect to show.

Vertical Offset: 5
Horizontal Offset: 5
Opacity: 100
Blur: 30
Shadow color: 404040
Fill interior with color: checked
Interior color: E1DFDF

Step 6. Add the Drop Shadow effect. This is the last step in creating the engraved effect. Click Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow and set the following values in the Drop Shadow dialog box. (see Figure 4)

Vertical Offset: 5
Horizontal Offset: 5
Opacity: 100
Blur: 1.00
Color: White

Finally, merge all the layers together by clicking Layers > Merge > Merge All Flatten.
