Ten Vitamin Packed Vegetables

It is a well known fact that the body requires a certain number of healthy foods, vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber to stay healthy. One of the simplest and easiest ways to acquire the essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and protein each day is to add a healthy dose of vegetables to the menu. Vegetables are a very versatile food. Some vegetables, like tomatoes and onions, taste great cooked or raw. Let's take a close look at the ten most vitamin packed veggies.

Broccoli is one of the most nutritional vegetables around today. In fact, one cup of broccoli contains more Vitamin C than an orange. One cup also provides 25 percent of daily fiber requirements and 5 grams of protein. Health experts report that broccoli is good for treating constipation and reducing high blood.

Some people do not care to eat cabbage because it causes gas, but cabbage is an important vegetable that is full of fiber and roughage. Cabbage is also packed with photochemical called indoles which are thought to fight cancer. Cabbage lowers high cholesterol and is also considered a powerful blood cleanser.

Carrots are a potent antioxidant. They also contain a high quantity of beta carotene which is reported to lower high cholesterol. A glass of carrot juice a day is a good treatment for allergies, anemia, insomnia. Carrot juice also promotes healthy eyesight while strengthening nails and the hair.

Corn is high in Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Popcorn is the best for adding fiber and roughage.

Okra is an excellent source for vitamins and minerals. Researchers found that okra is also good for treating stomach ulcers.

Onions were used in folk medicines to treat every thing from arthritis to athletes foot. There are several varieties of onions available. Some of the more popular varieties include the Bermuda, Red, Spanish, White, and Yellow onion. Onions are a powerful natural laxative and diuretic.

Peas contain nicotinic acid which is thought to lower cholesterol levels in the body. Peas have also been used to treat constipation.

Peppers are high in beta carotene and Vitamin A and C. The sweet red peppers have the highest amount of Vitamin C and beta carotene. Peppers are also thought good for the circulation.

Spinach is an excellent source for Vitamins, Minerals, and Proteins. Researchers found that spinach helps strengthen the eyesight, treats tumors, and controls high blood pressure.

Tomatoes are another vegetable that is available in several varieties which include Beefsteak, Cherry, Plum. Tomatoes are used to treat diarrhea, hypertension, and fatigue.
