The Key to Wellness

A HARE one day ridiculed the short feet and slow pace of the Tortoise, who replied, laughing: "Though you be swift as the wind, I will beat you in a race." The Hare, believing her assertion to be simply impossible, assented to the proposal; and they agreed that the Fox should choose the course and fix the goal. On the day appointed for the race the two started together. The Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course. The Hare, lying down by the wayside, fell fast asleep. At last waking up, and moving as fast as he could, he saw the Tortoise had reached the goal, and was comfortably dozing after her fatigue. Slow but steady wins the race. ("Aesop"s Fable")

What's Causing Your Stress?

-Are you aiming for a fast finish like the Hare in Aesop's Fable?

-Are you also letting someone else set your personal and business goals.

-Are you measuring your success by impossible standards?

Slowing Your Pace Reduces Stress

-Think about it for a second...

-Set your own pace instead of trying to out run your perceived competition.

-Remember your real competition is yourself.

-You are the one pushing yourself to achieve new goals.

-You are the one who understands your limits.

-You are the true motivator.

-Ultimately you are the one you will have to satisfy.

-Keep your eye on your personal goal.

-Stop trying to keep pace or out run the competition.

-Always strive to do your very best.

-Take pride in all your small or large accomplishments

It seem like most of us are so busy trying to achieve too much too fast. We should take a moment to slow down. A slow and steady pace will eventually win the race to personal and business success. Often the key to true wellness is learning to slow down and keep stress from damaging our body and total wellness. We must first learn to focus on what is truly important to us. The truth is that most of us are looking to achieve everything at a fast pace. This places us at risk of losing out at what really matters.
