What is Your Skin Trying to Tell You?

Summer Skin and Body Care

In the summer time people are more active and participate in more outdoor activities. Sensitive skin blisters and burns. People complain about dry or chapped skin. What is your skin trying to tell you?

Your skin is trying to tell you that it requires protection. Follow the tips in this article to prepare your skin for summer fun in the sun. And avoid damaging the skin, premature aging, or skin
cancer.

Hydrate
Playing in the sun is fun, but it could lead to dehydrated skin. Playing in the heat leads to an enormous amount of sweat. Drink extra water to keep your skin hydrated. Heavy sweaters should drink even more. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day during the summer.

Cleanse SKIN
Establish a regular cleansing routine for your skin during the summer months. It is vital to keep the skin free of grime and sweat which clogs the pores. Clogged pores lead to further skin problems. Wash the face regularly with a gentle cleansing bar of soap. Rinse the skin with warm water after cleansing. Next, smooth moisturizing lotion across the face and your neck area while the skin is still wet. The water will help seal in the moisturizing facial lotion.

Sunscreens
Make sunscreen your best friend during the summer. Any sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher should provide adequate protection against UV-B. You might want to try a higher SPF if you are a sun worshiper. Remember that the higher SPF provides more protection to sun exposed skin. Heavy sweaters should reapply the sunscreen every two to three hours.

Avoid Excess Sun
We all know that you should avoid UV-B, but UV-A plays a bigger part in aging the exposed skin and causing skin cancer. Avoid basking in the sun when it is strongest during the day. Cover up arms and legs if possible.

Clothing
Don't leave home without a cap or a large brim hat planted on your head to protect the sensitive facial area. Remember that the sun is strongest between 10:00 A.M. and 4:00PM. Make sure
your tops have long sleeves to protect arms. Whip out a vibrantly colored summer umbrella to protect you during the high sun hours. Your skin will thank you by showing less sun damage and staying youthful much longer than sun worshipers.

Fake Tans
Fake tans are a beautiful thing. Take a trip to your makeup counter and purchase a bronzer to cover your skin and give it a healthy sun bronzed glow or purchase one of the many self-tanners that are available at beauty supply stores. Avoid tanning beds though because they emit UVA rays which damage and age the skin.
