Rough Hands Treatment

Hands are constantly exposed to harsh weather and chemicals that produce rough skin. Of course, severity varies, but it is a condition that plagues many of us year round. I noticed that my hands looked really dry after a manicure and was searching for a lotion to repair dry skin. The stores are stocked with lotions and potions that claim to treat rough hands, but do they really work? Let's take a closer look at a few inexpensive products to treat the condition.

Inexpensive Lotions

Bag Balm, Corn Huskers Lotion, Udder Cream, and Vaseline are less expensive then products manufactured by Olay or Nivea. I discovered that they moisturize just as well. Corn Huskers Lotion and Udder Cream absorbs quickly into the skin and relieves minor dryness. Vaseline coats and soothes dry hands, but is greasier. Bag Balm is an interesting choice. It contains a moisturizer (lanolin) and an antiseptic (hydroxyquinoline) to ease and treat dryness. Bag Balm also heals cracked skin and is a good product for those who constantly expose their hands to harsh chemicals or inclement weather.

Hand Treatments

Now, this is a really cool hand treatment that works. Definitely try this treatment at home! Soak your hands in warm water, for about five minutes, at night before you go to bed. Dry your hands with a towel. Apply Bag Balm all over your hands including the palms. Slip a pair of cotton gloves on your hands. Wear the gloves overnight. In the morning, your hands should feel smooth and glow. Note:Vaseline or petroleum jelly also works just as well.
