Wishbone Light Ranch Dressing is a great way to liven up your salad-a-day goal. It has 2g of sugar and 70 calories per serving.
The flavor is rich and delicious. It takes just like the regular ranch dressing. You can use it both as a dressing for salad and also as a dip for veggies.
There are 2g of sugar in this, just as with their regular ranch. What they did is reduce the calories by holding back on oil. I know that low carb is primarily about counting carbs - but it's also about being wise about oil ingestion. Someone on a healthy low carb diet wouldn't sit down with a vat of lard and eat the entire thing. So if you can have less oil on your salad and still have great flavors, that's good.
I'm very pleased that this doesn't have high fructose corn syrup. That said - it still does have corn syrup for sweetness. Why? Why do they sweeten up everything they can? We don't need sweeteners in ketchup, mustard, peanut butter, and salad dressing.
The values are for 2 Tbsp:
1g saturated fat
0g trans fats
4g total carb
There is 8% vitamin E but that's it for the vitamins.
Regular ranch has 13g of fat and 130 calories. So it's a substantial difference between the two.
I definitely recommend eating a salad every day. In addition, you can have carrot sticks and celery sticks for snacks, maybe with some jicama and zucchini thrown in for good measure. The more fresh, healthy veggies you include in your diet, the better! And if ranch dressing helps you to enjoy those and look forward to them, then I highly recommend that.
It's a good idea to mix up your salad dressings so you have different ones to choose from. That will help to keep your salads tasty and varied. Mix up the ingredients, too.
