Where many light or low carb beers resemble ginger ale more than a beer, with only a wafting of flavor and a nearly-clear color, Yuengling does a good job of providing a full beer experience.
The color is reddish-gold, a far cry from the transparent colors of many beers in this category. There aren't as many bubbles are some of the other beers, and I consider that a good thing. With some of the others it's more like drinking an ultra-fizzy soda than a beer.
The flavor is good and smooth. It's a beer you can actually drink with food and have it work well.
For a full 12oz bottle you get 99 calories, 8.5g of carbs, .82g of protein, and 0.1g of fat. So this definitely isn't the lowest carb beer out there. On the other hand, it's a tasty beer. Sometimes it comes down to if you'd rather drink two beers that taste like nothing at all or one beer which tastes good. I suppose I'm on the side of having that one beer that I really enjoy.
Oddly, the alcohol content isn't listed anywhere on the label. I had to research it to find out it is 3.8% alcohol. Their regular lager is 4.4% alcohol. So slightly less alcohol to help bring down the calorie count.
A tasty beer, and one we're glad is available in our state.
