Spring Clean Body Care Products

Everybody is getting into the habit of tossing out expired or outdated body care products. This is certainly due to the increased awareness concerning bacteria that quickly grows and spreads in body care products like lotions, creams, oils, pomades, deodorants, toothpaste, and hair care products. Often, it is difficult to toss out a favorite skin cream or body lotion, but remember that you are taking this step to protect your health.

Body Care Product Expiration Dates
The fact is that opinions vary widely on when to toss out an outdated product. Some health professionals, state that you should judge the freshness of a product by taking a look at the expiration date. Dispose of any product that is more than a year old. The product has probably lost most of its effectiveness and ninety percent of its potency.

All products include an expiration date that is located somewhere on the label. Check out the date. Is the date sometime during the 1990s? Well, take my advice, get rid of that product. Another idea is to simply use your own personal judgement. Inspect the product carefully. Perhaps it is well beyond the freshness date, but judge for yourself.

Was the product stored in a dark place? The product might still be quite useful. Of course, you should dispose of any body care product that smells kind of weird or has lost its original color.

Body Care Product Storage
If you are like me, you probably store most of your body care products in the bathroom. I was shocked to learn that this was about the worst environment for those personal care products. Body care products stored in the bathroom have a tendency to deteriorate quickly. This is due to the high humidity. That high humidity is a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus. Therefore, store your personal care products in a cool, dark, and dry place. Avoid storing your favorites or any body care product in the bathroom. Instead, keep them on a bedroom dresser or shelf in a closet. This will preserve their freshness for a longer period of time.

“America's health care system is neither healthy, caring, nor a system.”
