Not Enough Beds : A Christmas Alphabet Book

Continue to learn the alphabet during the Christmas season. Lisa Bullard writes Not Enough Beds: A Christmas Alphabet Book. The children’s bedtime book is humorous.

The Christmas book has rhymes which describe what happens when twenty-six relatives stay together during the Christmas holidays. The small house is crowded. Sleeping quarters for the twenty-six are difficult to find. The resourceful relatives find creative places and positions in which to sleep.

The relatives’ names range from A to Z. The story ends when the last person, Zachary (Z), goes to sleep under the Christmas tree. The others are sleep in a chair, on a stair, on the floor and other places.

The picture book’s illustrations are by Joni Oeltjenbruns. All the relatives’ names are either in red or green. There are traditional holiday decorations such as a Christmas tree, ornaments, snow angels and garlands. All decorations are in bright colors.

Not Enough Beds: A Christmas Alphabet Book is set in rhyme. Children love the lively pattern of the rhyme. It keeps the child’s interest in the relatives and alphabet.

There are tiny mice on the pages. The reader loves to follow their antics. The mice complement the humor of the relatives’ sleeping places and positions. The mice along with the reader spy on the relatives.
