The Children's Books Editor predicts Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger's engagement in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! The two are best friends (BFF). They met in J K Rowling Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. And in each following book, the pair has been more than best friends.

Oh, they have not acted on their desires! Ron is always Hermione’s champion since Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. If anyone dares say anything against her, he stands up for her. It is a running storyline that she is Muggle-born. Draco Malfoy cites this in every book. He doesn’t consider Hermione “our kind” because her parents are not a witch and wizard. Draco sneers every time he repeats this fact about Hermione’s parentage.

In, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, at first, Ron Weasley did not like Hermione. In fact, he tells Harry Potter that he hopes not to be in the same house as she. He considers her a know-it-all. The sorting hat selects Hermione for Gryffindor House; Ron moans on hearing the selection. Yet, by the book’s end, they are the best of friends. He even invites Hermione Granger to visit his home that summer.

The three young wizards become fast friends. Teenage hormones take a toll on Ron and Hermione’s relationship in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. They constantly bicker with Harry caught in the middle. Then, the Yule Ball comes along. Shy Ron wants to escort his friend, Hermione, but he asks too late. Hermione attends the ball with another student, Viktor Krum, from Durmstrang school. Ron is jealous. The tension between the two is greater than ever.

I predict Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger's engagement. J K Rowling knows Harry Potter's fans want to see the two realize their true feelings for each other. Maybe Ron and Hermione will attend Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s wedding in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The ceremony will make them act on their feelings.

Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger's engagement will remove a great burden from Harry Potter’s shoulders. He is in a fight for his life. The constant sparring of his friends is a great distraction. Lord Voldemort and his Deatheaters and are stronger than ever and a great threat to both Muggles and Wizards. His friends’ engagement will be a bright spot in an otherwise dark existence.

Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger's engagement will goad him to destroy Lord Voldemort even at his own peril. Harry will not want anything to mar his friends’ future happiness. He has watched the growth of Ron and Hermione over the years. The two has made his life bearable during his time with the Dursleys. He has lost his dear friend Professor Albus Dumbledore; he is determined not to lose his last living friends.
